Real talk. We spend too much time Googling shit. The next time you come home late after a long night of partying…or creeping, don’t sit your ass down and start typing in the search box. turn on your TV and switch immediately to your long lost PBS channel. That’s where i found the subject for this post.Gabriel Orozco is the real deal. The consistent themes in his work revolve around mapping and geometry of everyday objects that we take for granted. This skull piece entitled “Black Kites” is is a primo example, but not even a small taste of his archive. Able to leap and bounce thru any medium, Orozco’s is not confined to any field. He’s mastered sculpture, installation, drawing and painting. From The Museum of Contemporary Art in LA, MOMA, and all the way down to the Venice and Whitney Biennials. Orozco has been there, and is still grinding into the future.
