OUTSIDE IN – The Story of Art In the Streets (trailer)

And now we have an Art In The Streets Movie. With the runaway success MoCA AITS, looking at the future, it shouldn’t be any any surprise if it slowly and tastefully develops into a brand. We say slowly and tastefully, because the potential audience will slice and dice through the BS like butter. Until then, the show is still on exhibition and the celebration is still popping.

OUTSIDE IN is a celebratory and historical look at street art through the lens of the Museum of Contemporary Art’s groundbreaking exhibition Art in the Streets. The film features renowned artists Shepard Fairey, Lee Quiñones, Swoon, Futura, Mister Cartoon, Revok, Martha Cooper, Invader and Atlanta’s Dirty Doctor Daks aka SNORTTHIS to name a few. Director Alex Stapleton (Corman’s World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel) documents the artist’s creative process, their pitfalls with the law, the poetic impermanence of their craft and the artists’ evolution from the back seat of a cop car to the walls of a well-respected institution.Filmed at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) in conjunction with the exhibition Art in the Streets – moca.org / A Film by Alex Stapleton outsidein-film.com/
