The MF Doom Nike Dunk SB blindsided alot of us. The vinyl figure was a bit more obvious. This Sneaker Freaker Project totally caught us off guard especially since we featured the original Sneaker Speaker project earlier this year. Well have no fear, Mr. Metalface returns to your area with another freshly cooked batch of boiling unexpected. First off, no more MF DOOM. Just DOOM, that’s it. DOOM and maven streetwear outfit, AKOMPLICE ~~have inked a secret deal with the Illuminati to~~ bring you… A BOX. Make that a wooden box crafted from pine crate that can only open by a specially built crowbar. You think this a joke, right. Trust, we couldn’t even begin to fabricate anything like this.Akomplice and DOOM have spared no expense, the box comes equipped with the crowbar that features custom artwork engraved on the metal front, matching the artwork on the box itself. And the contents of the box? That remains a mystery. Only Doom and Upper Echelon AKOMPLICE know of the boxes contents. The contents will be revealed to whoever purchases the box.And how would one got about acquiring This 5 pound curiosity? It will be available for purchase during a 24 hour window, starting at 9am PST on June 8, 2011 and ending the following day at 9am. The box will be released exclusively at the AKOMPLICE online-store and at their new collaborative space Santa Barbara, California.

Graphic Designer. Visual Strategist. Information Architect. If you’re not familiar with Pantone you might not be any of the above. Over 50 years ago the brand introduced the first international color matching system (PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM ®), an consice system of identifying, matching and communicating colors to solve the problems associated with producing accurate color matches in the graphic arts community. Each color is identified with a unique number. Pantone colors have become the standard in printing, graphic design, textiles, plastics, and now they’re flexing in the arena of architecture and contract interiors. 7 floors, 59 rooms, 1 store, the largest collection of Pantone merch. The hotel is located near the boujee Louise district, in a building from the 70s. Architect Olivier Hannaert hooked the interior design along with designer Michel Penneman.

All rooms are theme-colored based on popular pms colors and inspired by abstract photographs of Brussels. Each room features detail photography by Victor Levy, that meshes with the color selection of the room. Usually we focus on the design aesthetic, but out of curiosity we contacted the Pantone Hotel and found out the pricing is well workable starting at 79 Euros ($110.00 US). The Pharrell Williams Resource Center

Here’s a thought. Imagine the possibilities, if every multi-millionaire hip hop artist put 1 million…ok maybe thats far fetched. Say each one put 500K towards the development of a resource center such as this, in the state that they are from or currently reside. Besides being under the watchful eye of the government, said research centers could possibly alter the landscape of our children’s futures. Say what you want to about Skateboard P, but after this no one will ever say he never gave back to the community.

The Pharrell Williams Resource Center will be a located (ironically) on Williams Farm in the Bayside area of Virginia Beach. While it will serve children from around the greater Virginia Beach area, it is conveniently located next to three elementary schools: Diamond Springs Elementary, Newtown Elementary, Betty F. Williams Elementary, and across the street from Bayside Middle School. A Miami based architectural firm is currently developing detailed plans for the Center.

What will the PWRC cost and when will it open? The estimated cost of the PWRC and an endowment for operations and maintenance is $35 million. The projected opening date is 2013.

How will Pharrell be involved with the Center? In spite of his extensive worldwide travel and business commitments, Pharrell remains committed to the Virginia Beach community. Since 2004 he has provided financial support for the Back to School Supplies program and the distribution of Thanksgiving turkeys to residents of the neighborhood in which he grew up. The PWRC will be the crown jewel of his investment in this community. Pharrell provided the original vision for the Center and he will be involved both in the campaign to raise funds for its construction and in the development of its programs.

Who will provide the funds for the PWRC? The PWRC will truly be a community partnership. The City of Virginia Beach has been an enthusiastic supporter of the PWRC from its inception. Community leaders share Pharrellâ€™s goal of educating youth and developing workforce opportunities for all its citizens. The FOHTA Foundation is in the process of identifying and cultivating civic leaders as well as corporate and foundation supporters to encourage their financial support of the Center.

It took the long enough, but it looks like somebody at Wolfsburg finally got it right. This fall there’s a new bug on the block and its not a game. It’s lower to the ground, with a wider body that’s almost reminiscent of the VW Corrado. This will undoubtedly mark a rebirth of cool for Dubstars all over the planet.

Volkswagen has already sold almost 300 of the 2012 model, despite the car not hitting dealers until this fall. That is because Oprah gave away 275 of the new New Beetles to her audience members during the â€œFavorite Thingsâ€ special of The Oprah Winfrey Show last November. Green Factor To keep the energy efficient stylings of the house, 2 separate arrangements of roof mounted photovoltaic panels offset the power usage. Add dark lava stone to help heat the pool water via solar radiation. Rain water collection and redirection to 3 drywells that replenish the aquifer are implemented throughout the property. Reclaimed teak timber from older barns and train tracks are recycled for the exterior of the home.

We saved this video for last drop of the weekend. This is a video introspective travel into the elements of New Jersey born Atlanta artist Goldi Gold. It’s rare that visual artists produce calling cards like this. The reason being, alot of them are often paranoid about being seen action or having their secret squirrel techniques exposed. A true zen master of this craft has no such fears, and is more than happy to let the world see how gets down. All we have to say is .. it’s this type of passion for creativity that make people wonder whether artists sleep or not, forgetting (some not knowing) that sleep is the cousin of death. A few weeks ago we ran drop on â€œQuentin vs. Coenâ€â€“ An art show tribute to the ï¬lms of Tarantino and the Brothers. Presented by Spoke Art NYC, its one of those shows that you would fly in just for the weekend to check out the opening nite. Then you hang out with your people, get wasted the whole time, and on the flight back Sunday afternoon feel insanley guilty for blowing too much loot and having such a good time.

That said the fine folks at Spoke Art, dropped us a sneak peak, containing a majority of the 100 submissions and lets just say that no artist involved should be considered a game. Every piece is top notch heavy hitting. If your’re in NYC, April 7-9 don’t fail yourself by missing the show. It shall be one for the books. New York City, The Bold Hype Gallery, April 7-9th. Done.
