3 minutes from downtown Atlanta, rolling east on Simpson…
I’ll accept the #latepass of the year on this. There’s no telling what I was on that would have caused this to fly by, but it did. When I was first contacted by one of the films producers I initially thought “Snow On The Bluff” was another ATL hood movie that was released around 2005 – 06, called the “The Bluff“. Guess what? I WAS DEAD WRONG. Because while “The Bluff” looks like a elementary school student film project shot with a broken vhs recorder, the real movie “Snow on the Bluff“, is actually a entertaining and excellent body of work, that will most likely determine how deep into the westside of Atlanta “the pioneers” will continue to gentrify. Tacks AM7 / The Civic Yard 1995
At this point we’re officially all the way live into the archive. Like we mentioned before, as of right now we’re freestyling. There’s a few detailed directions I’m thinking about as far as coverage but for now we’ll keep things simple. Sleepy Brown Got Jams. The Slow Ones. (free download)
Growing up in high school, you could have all the game in the world, but no self respecting female on the planet was gonna go with you if you could produce a decent slow jam tape. In Atlanta, Most guys just tuned in to V103′s Quiet Storm and hit record. But the cats with style and finesse, and parents with proper record collections? They were the ones that got the dibs. Sleep Brown was probably one of those cats (no homo). After putting in work on the west coast for the last 4 or so years, the golden voice of the Atlanta’s Dungeon Family is back. [Read more...]
Meet the Face of ATL’s New (misspelling) Vandal Squad
Seriously? Before you hit the jump, take a look at the lines above and below the hotline number. According to the wikigods, grafitti is supposed to be spelled… graffiti. Nice. Atlanta’s first one man anti graffiti taskforce doesn’t know how to spell GRAFFITI. Not a good look for the first month on the job. Just in case you haven’t seen it… here’s your Atlanta Taskforce tax dollars hard at work. [Read more...]
Mac vs Pc: Some Cool Ass Nerd Shit
Seriously tho, some of you may remember the days before DJing went digital. The the MAC user percentage was say 5-10%. Give or take, depending on how many people decided they wanted to be “desktop publishers” that day. Those were days when u could meet up with your people at the Apple store, parlay, check your gmail. Flirt with managers (the female ones. nohomo). If you were a MAC user back then you felt at home in the MAC store. [Read more...]
